Fatal Accidents Involving Construction, Maintenance and Repair at Metal/Nonmetal Mines 2004-2005

This publication presents information on fatalities involving construction that occurred in metal/nonmetal mining operations from January 2004 through December 2005. The fatalities in this report consist of accidents involving construction, maintenance and repair. It includes statistics for all of the fatalities, as well as abstracts and illustrations. From January 2004 through December 2005, 62 miners died at metal/nonmetal operations. Of the 62 fatalities, 31 fatalities involved construction. This contributed to 50 percent of all fatalities during this period.
