High Density Polyethylene Pipe Fill Height Table in Arizona

This report documents a review of nationwide practices with regard to recommendations for fill heights over high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes. Another item of interest to the investigation was typical use of HDPE pipes by various agencies. The bulk of the reports information, which is related to HDPE pipe diameter, minimum and maximum fill heights, backfill materials, and other pertinent items, was gathered via telephone interviews with the concerned staff from various state highway agencies. Limited information was also obtained by contacting the industry representatives, pipe manufacturers, and reviewing documents from American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). All 50 state agencies were contacted for information, of which 47 responded.
