摘要

This report describes and documents the methodology and geographic information system (GIS) procedures used to estimate the stormwater best management practices (BMPs) distribution in the St Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD). Stormwater programs were adopted in Florida since the early 1980s. Under the frameworks of the Clean Water Act, in 1987 US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) designated BMPs as the primary mechanism for offsetting water quality impacts due to the land development in the United States. BMPs play an important role in the rainfall-runoff process, not only do they reduce the runoff volumes and peak flows, but also they can remove sediments and nutrients associated with the runoff. Hence, BMPs need to be incorporated into the watershed hydrologic and water quality models. The objectives of this project are to map the spatial distribution of BMPs in the SJRWMD in a more efficient manner and to document the step-by-step GIS procedures used to complete this mapping effort.
