2006 Yellow-Billed Cuckoo Study Results. Appendix: Yellow-Billed Cuckoo Survey and Detection Forms. San Marcial, New Mexico

During the summer of 2006, the Bureau of Reclamation conducted presence/absence surveys for the Western Yellow-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus americanus occidentalis) (YBCU) along the Middle Rio Grande between the southern boundary of the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge and Elephant Butte Reservoir. Three surveys were completed between June 15 and August 15 in each of 66 sites to gather baseline population data on the YBCU along the Middle Rio Grande. As time permitted, nest searches also were conducted by experienced biologists when territories were located. In total, 44 YBCU territories were detected and no nests were found. This report contains data collected on the Yellow-billed Cuckoo. This data includes survey and detection forms in San Marcial, New Mexico.
