Estimating Future Costs for Alaska Public Infrastructure at Risk from Climate Change.

The Institute of Social and Economic Research estimated potential infrastructure costs of climate change effects in Alaska. This report details how these costs could be as much as $7.6 billion over the next 70 years. The infrastructure cataloged for the study includes transportation facilities and infrastructure, power transmission equipment, and water and sewer systems. Using three different climate change scenarios, the report identifies infrastructure that could be affected by erosion, permafrost melt, and increased flooding.
