The authors evaluate the effects of ambulatory health information technology (HIT) on quality, safety, and resource use in a large, integrated health delivery system (IDS). Within the study site, there is an ongoing natural experiment, involving staggered HIT implementation across 110 primary care teams starting. We focus on a cohort of IDS members with at least one of five chronic diseases (Asthma, Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Failure, Diabetes Mellitus, and Hypertension).
