This report provides a summary of analyses that compare estimates from the HCUP Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS) for 2005 to three related data sources: the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey, the National Hospital Discharge Survey (NHDS) from the National Center for Health Statistics, and the MedPAR inpatient data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
