Report to Congress: The Shortage in the Number of Individuals with Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Subjects Related to Fishery Science

In the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act of 2006, the United States Congress directed a study be conducted on the shortage in the number of individuals with post-baccalaureate degrees who have the ability to conduct high-quality scientific research in fisheries stock assessment and related fields (P.L. 109-479, sec. 217). To accomplish this, two independent studies were conducted to estimate the demand for stock assessment scientists and to estimate the supply. This report presents the results of both studies.
