The premise for writing this guide came from a Forest Service document originally published in 1992 and reprinted in 1993-A Marketing Guide for Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Secondary-Processed Wood Products in the Northeastern United States, by Ed Cesa. That document still provides marketing concepts and guidance for manufacturers of secondary-processed wood products in the Northeastern United States. After a number of discussions the authors believed that a similar publication that focused specifically on primary processors was needed. This publication is the result of those conversations. This new publication will provide small and medium sized sawmills and primary processors with many marketing ideas and concepts.
