President's Cancer Panel Meeting: Environmental Factors in Cancer

This is the second meeting of the Panel's 2008-2009 series addressing the role of the environment in cancer and how environmental exposures may impact cancer etiology and progression. Our first meeting was held in New Jersey. The third meeting will be held in Charleston and the last meeting will be held in January in Phoenix. These 1-day meetings will focus on cancer-causing pollutants found in air, soil, food, and water, exposure to toxic chemicals in the workplace, and radiation exposure. The Panel will explore both current research and existing knowledge gaps in these areas, as well as the status of regulatory practices relevant to environmental factors in cancer risk reduction. Today's meeting will focus on agricultural exposures as they relate to cancer risk.
