We describe the activity in the first operative year of the Italian Register for ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). 75 of 125 total accredited Centres have enrolled 626 children and adolescents. All patients underwent multimodal treatment. 44% of them have received methylphenidate and 56% atomoxetine. Often ADHD is combined with others psychiatric diseases particularly ODD (Obsessive Disruptive Disorder). The drugs, methylphenidate and atomoxetine were prescribed only to patients with severe case history unresponsive to psychotherapy. The accuracy of diagnosis avoids an extensive and unjustified use of ADHD drugs.
