This practice considers opportunities to use alternative aircraft-deicing products that have a reduced environmental impact, primarily in terms of the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) found in the freeze-point depressants and aquatic toxicity associated with additives required to meet certification specifications. Product selection is typically the responsibility of aircraft operators and their contractors.
