摘要

The aim of this study has been the development of mechanical laboratory fatigue test for dental implant performances evaluation according to technical European norms. Thanks to Minister of Health funding, a testing laboratory has been realized following the same guidelines, used also for sample grips designed ad hoc for mechanical fatigue testing protocol development by means of servohydraulic instrument. Fatigue level limits evaluation needed fatigue tests on 9 samples for each dental implant system. Dental implant mechanical performances have been evaluated with different observation and simulation methods to compare dental implant sample structure, before and after fatigue testing, and also investigate on sample fracture surfaces breaking. Electronic scanning microscopy was used for these investigations, while 3D microtomographic analysis for microstructure alterations, comparing before and after fatigue testing. Furthermore, sample structures have been reconstructed with CAD software and real testing situation have been simulated by means of finite element analysis.
