Improving Performance in Practice (IPIP) Conference; Practice Redesign Initiative. Inclusive Dates: 7/3/07-5/2/08

The 1st annual Improving Performance in Practice (IPIP) national conference, 'Where Theory Becomes Reality' occurred on October 12, 2007 in Denver, CO. It was supported, in part, by a small conference grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. IPIP is a national program with participating practices now in several states. Results of the prototype implementation in Colorado and North Carolina were the focus of this first conference. In addition to showcasing best practices presented by IPIP teams, we invited national quality improvement experts and leaders engaged in or sponsoring projects to improve the quality of care, particularly in ambulatory settings. Subsequent to the conference, a summary of highlights was distributed widely and is still available to the public. The conference included didactic presentations and panel discussions. Primary care physicians and their care teams, particularly those residing in Colorado, attended the conference and several teams were selected to share their experiential learning.
