Western States Medical Monographs. Intrapartum Liver Transplantation for Fulminant Hepatic Failure During Pregnancy: A Case Review.

Pregnancy in liver transplant patients is widely acknowledged for generally having good outcomes for both mother and child. However, fulminant hepatic failure during pregnancy is an exceedingly rare event with approximately twenty documented cases in the last two decades. In this paper, the author reviews thirteen case studies that discuss intrapartum acute liver failure with liver transplant, in an attempt to quantify parameters that may affect maternal or fetal outcome.
