This scoping report summarizes a proposal to improve the Sutton Bluff All-Terrain Vehicle (Motorcycle and ATV) Trail System. The purpose of this project is to insure safe, high-quality recreation opportunities on the trail system in the future, while protecting other resources. This scoping package has been developed in order to inform interested and affected parties of our proposed management activities and to solicit public comments on the proposal. The Sutton Bluff Motorcycle and ATV Trail System is located in the headwaters area of the West Fork of the Black River on the Salem Ranger district in Reynolds County, Missouri. The area is just a few miles north of the community of Centerville, Missouri and is easily accessed from Missouri State Highway 21. The legal description for the project area is: Township 32 North, Range 1East; Sections; 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 17 , Township 32 North, Range1West; Sections; 11,12 and Township 33 North, Range 1East; Sections; 31, 5th Principle Meridian. The geographic setting of the project area is characterized by relatively steep slopes and ridges forested with oak and pine. The few openings and fields found in the area are located in major creeks and river valleys. Many of the hollow bottoms are narrow with some small dry stream channels in the lower reaches.
