Historical Changes in Stay-at-Home Mothers: 1969 to 2009

This paper explores the following questions for married couple households: (1) How had the proportion of married mothers with children under 15 who were stay-at-home mothers changed since 1969; (2) With a lower proportion of married women with children stahing home in recent years, how do they differ from their non-stay-at-home counterparts; and (3) has the composition of this group changed over the last 40 years.
