CMS Reporting to the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank

The objective of this document is to determine whether the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reported all of its adverse actions to the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank (HIPDB) as required. The HIPDB is a national data bank containing reports of adverse actions against health care practitioners, providers, and suppliers (hereinafter referred to as providers). The HIPDB plays an important role in preventing the employment of potentially fraudulent or abusive providers, so it is important that the information it contains be complete and accurate.
