Civic Health and Unemployment: Can Engagement Strengthen the Economy

Civic health is defined as the measure of the civic attitudes, actions, and behaviors of a group of individuals. In 2010, the Current Population Survey (CPS), a regular survey of about 50,000 households conducted by the Bureau of the Census for the Bureau of Labor Statistics, included 19 questions appropriate for assessing the civic health of states and communities.
