Oppmerkingstiltak for Sykler i Bykryss Internasjonale Erfaringer Og Effektstudier. (Measures for Bicycles in City Intersections - International Experiences and Evaluation Studies.)

The report summarizes evaluation studies of six measures for bicycles in intersections in urban areas and one measure for pedestrians, in terms of their effects on objective and subjective safety, mobility, behavior, and attitudes. The review includes 65 studies from seven different countries. It appears that that cycles boxes, advanced stop lines and colored cycle lanes improve the conditions for bicyclists. Thus, the use of these measures should be extended. Central feeder lanes and special marking of pedestrian crossings will probably also have a positive effect. It is recommended that these measures be tested more extensively.
