摘要

The idea of this volume was born from the awareness of the importance to preserve and valorize the memories of those people who contributed to the history of the Istituto Superiore di Sanita, the main research institution for the safeguard of public health in Italy. The oral memories represent unpublished stories that belong to the historical-scientific heritage of the Institute and constitute a precious source of primary information that risks to get lost if not adequately recorded and valorized. The volume, in its initial chapters, reconstructs the context in which the research develops and underlines the importance of the historical documentation, with particular reference to the oral sources. In the following chapters, the volume introduces the transcript of an interview to a technician, passionate of scientific instruments, who contributed to save many of them from the forgetfulness and destruction, and illustrates in the detail the historical videos produced by the ISS Publishing Unit, containing interviews to people who worked in the Institute in the last century. The objective of the volume is to set the bases for the development of a long lasting project for the maintenance and study of the ISS oral memories.
