摘要

Ensuring the microbiological safety of drinking water necessitates balancing water source protection and water treatment techniques for a water supply with management of the distribution system to prevent re-contamination of treated water. Due to the intermittent and often unpredictable nature of pathogen contamination, water system managers must emphasize a “best practice” approach to produce water of consistent microbiological quality. This review intends to evaluate some available data, information and research results regarding the potential microbial health risks associated with the distribution system issues.
