SINGLE-CYLINDER ENGINE TESTS OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE COOLANTS

This cooling system was modified to permit forced circulation of the coolant at various flow rates. Tests were conducted at various coolant flow rates and outlet temperatures, and at different manifold pressures. Cylinder head temperatures were determined at these various conditions, and heat baldness were calculated.nThe results obtained from these tests indicated that ethylene glycol gave better cooling than any other of the high-temperature coolants. Water solutions of ethylene glycol, or mater alone, gave better cooling than ethylene glycol, but required pressure on the cooling system.
