RESULTS OF ACCEPTANCE TESTS OF MODEL AN/ART-13A RADIO TRANSMITTING SET

This report covers results of engineering tests on the AN/ART-13A MHF Airborne Communications Radio Transmitting Equipment for compliance with references (b), (c) and (d) and for acceptability for use in Naval aircraft. The AN/ART-13A is an Army transmitter very similar in design to the AN/ART-13 and Navy models ATC and ATC-1. Certain changes (see paragraph 2) have been made in the AN/ART-13A over earlier models and these changes are here evaluated to determine any improvements over these earlier models. Overall performance of the equipment is satisfactory. Among features showing improvement over earlier models are increased crystal frequency indicator (CFI) output, making possible more accurate tuning, and better frequency stability. The equipment failed to meet specifications in certain respects (see paragraph 8). The majority of these failures are due to the modulation system.
