A PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE ORIGIN OF THE ELECTROSTAMC CHARGE ON THE JET PROPELLED AIRPLANE

It has been reported that jet propelled airplanes experience radio static interference from the time they take off until they land. In fact, radio interference has been noted even before take-off. This occurrence appears to be independent of weather conditions, and takes place even when the sun is shining and the sky is cloudless.nAnalysis of this situation indicated that the operation of the jet engine must constitute the origin of an electrostatic charge on the airplane which in turn causes noisy corona discharge to take place even in clear weather.
