The mission was carried out under the sponsorship of C.I.O.S. (Combined Intelligence Objectives Subcommittee) and with the cooperation of the British and American armies in the European theater of operations. Among the processes discussed with German personnel at appropriate plants and locations was the so-called OXO process for making higher alcohols from olefins. Though the present tense will be used frequently in this report, it should be understood, of course, that the process is not operating now and has not been since the termination of the war.
