METALLURGICAL HIGH LIGHTS IN THE RECENT MANUFACTURE OF ROLLED STEEL PLATES AND SHEETS IN GERMANY

Interesting high lights are herein recorded of recent German steel manufacture, including the alloy situation especially as it applied to rolled armor plate. The successful use of low grade Garman ores indicates Germany's potential independence of foreign ores. The frequent effort to upgrade basic converter steel especially for use as cold rolled sheets la significant. The normal German market and labor rates have retarded the installation of high production rolls for rolling plate and sheets.
