Radar fire control involves more than the tracking radar, which is the primary source of target position information during the tracking phase of the fire-control process. The task before the system engineer, concerned with the design or critical evaluation of a fire-control system, is to follow the flow of target information from the search radar which originally detects the target, through the various steps by which the original low-precision target information is finally transformed into high-precision gun orders.
