Minutes of the Streptomycin Conference (4th) Held at the Branch Office Nine, St. Louis, Missouri on October 9-12, 1947

These proceedings summarize the Fourth Veterans Administration Conference on Streptomycin in Tuberculosis, called by the VA Central Office Streptomycin Committee. Representatives from participating groups and VA hospitals discuss and analyze the results obtained from various treatment regimens inaugurated during previous conferences, and of the value of the thoracic surgery study conducted during the past year. Attempts are made to reach a decision as to what, if any, new regimens should be explored, and the question is considered as to whether certain types of tuberculosis can now be 'treated' rather than 'studied.' Study units dealing with the various types of tuberculosis present summaries of their findings and interpretations, and the minutes also record the recommendations of problem-solving committees.
