Minutes of the Streptomycin Conference (5th) Held at the Knickerbocker Hotel, Chicago, Illinois on April 15-18, 1948

This volume summarizes the proceedings of the Fifth Veterans Administration Conference on Streptomycin in the treatment of tuberculosis. The conference was organized and called by the VA Central Office Streptomycin Committee, and attended by physicians representing the VA Central Office and Branch Office Streptomycin Study Units, as well as representatives of the armed forces and other organizations and government agencies. Results of research on the use of streptomycin in pulmonary, tracheobronchial, and other types of tuberculosis are presented in terms of toxicity, resistance, dosages, use in connection with surgery, laboratory and X-ray practices and results, and other aspects of the ongoing research program. Study units and committee reports are presented, and plans discussed for future developments in the study.
