The rapid measurements possible with a scintillation counter, because of the excellent statistics resulting from its high efficiency and high speed, make the device basically well suited for survey type radiation instruments. In addition, its energy discriminating capabilities give it flexibility in apprais­ing the quality of the radiation being detected as well as its intensity.
