THE MODULATION-GRID METHOD FOR ELIMINATING DOPPLER BROADENING OF MICROWAVE SPECTROSCOPIC LIKES

This report considers a method for eliminating the Deppler effect as a source of line breath. It has been made to operate successfully. A line width 1/10 th of the best previous line has been obtained. To make measurements on such a narrow line imposes serious limitations upon the frequency stability and somzitivity of the measuring equipment.nThe theory of the methods is discussed completely in Chapter II of the report. Theoretical expressions for shape and strength are obtained. Chapter III considerer the experimental apparatus.
