The design of three systems for feeding paraboloid reflectors at X-, S-, and L-band wavelengths is described. The three feeds can be adjusted readily to transmit a signal of any desired elliptical polarization. In particular they may be adjusted to give near-circular polarization on axis of about 0.5 db. The antennas can receive both the transmitted polarization and the orthogonal polarization with isolation between the two of the order of 25 to 35 bd.nTest data on some of the r-f components (which include hybrid junctions, phase shifters, and a novel dual-channel rotary joint) are presented.
