Maximum utilization of manpower in the military departments, government agencies, and industry alike is dependent upon current, accurate, and detailed job information. This information is in the form of descriptions of work that must be done and the physiological characteristics judged essential for its satisfactory performance. There are many uses made of job information but among the most important, it provides the bases for selection, assignment, and classification procedures; for the development and revision of training courses; and for the development of proficiency measures.n One of the more common procedures by which job information is obtained is called "job analysis." There are, however, various techniques of job analysis. Five methods are most frequently discussed in the literature. These are: (a) the questionnaire-survey, (b) the group interview, (c) the individual interview, (d) the observation interview, and (e) the technical conference.
