Some Effects of the Addition of Mass to Vibrating Systems

In particular, certain examples are examined to determine the changes which will occur in a vibrating system when an additional mass is attached to the system. These added masses are to represent equipment which is attached to vibrating structural members in an aircraft. The following problems are considered: the transverse vibrations of a beam with added distributed mass, free and forced longitudinal.
