Motion Blur in Aerial Photography Part 2 The Influence of Camera Vibrations on Motion Blur in Aerial Photography

This is the second in a series of reports dealing with the problems of motion blur in photography. In the introductory report, the effects on the motion blur of image, motion and sensitometric factors were discussed for the case of lateral motion. In the present study the important case of the oscillatory image motion, such as caused by camera vibration or airplane roll, will be considered. For better discrimination between these two principal cases, the unsharpness caused by the lateral motion will be called "lateral motion blur," while that caused by oscillatory image motion will bo called "vibration blur."
