Causes of Cracking in High-Strength Weld Metals

This report summarizes the third year of experimental work at Battelle on the causes of cracking in high-strength weld metals. During the period from August 12, 1953, to August 12, 1954, hot-tens ion and weld-metal cracking studies were conducted on SAE 43XX-type.steels and other selected steels. Results from these studies showed a correlation, inasmuch as an.
