Dialysis in the Treatment of Uremia

Two methods of dialysis in the treatment of uremia, the artificial kidney and peritoneal lavage, are described in detail in this technical bulletin. The artificial kidney, also known as hemodialysis or extracorporeal dialysis, is evaluated and its general principles are discussed. Photographs of the machine are included for illustration. General principles of the treatment of uremia are discussed in relation to the use of the artificial kidney.
