Research Services in Connection with Designs for Pyrolytic-Carbon Variable Resistors

Carbon and borocarbon films are known to exhibit certain desirable characteristics which make them useful for application in fixed film-type resistance elements. This research was undertaken to evaluate these ma¬terials for application in variable-resistance elements. Various charac¬teristics were to be determined in the light of JAN-R-94 specifications. Other characteristics such as noise were also to be considered. Design considerations and indications of ultimate performance in terms of life (operational cycles) were to be made.
