摘要

The present report is a first report on the theoretical phase of that part of the project which is dealing with the determination of the size and shape of rigid macromolecules- approximated to be spheroids of any axial ratio - by dityndallism in attaining polymer solutions. The determination of the size and shape of large molecules has already been possible for sometime using measurements of angular scattering in solutions at rest, in which case use is made primarily of the approach initiated by Debye. Light scattering is then considered as equivalent to an interference phenomenon. Data obtained on this basis are most useful and significant as long as the refractive ratio m approaches the value of 1.0. Whenever this is not the case the data obtained are in error although this is often not realized.
