摘要

The ore minerals of many ore deposits are metal sulfides that are thought to have been deposited from solutions containing sulfur and water, along with other constituents such as carbon dioxide, the halogens, and boron. The need for systematic studies of equilibria in systems containing metal sulfides, water, and other constituents was pointed out by Tunell in his address as retiring president of the Mineralogical Society of America (1951,p. 174-175).
