摘要

The broadside vertical impact of a rigid circular cylinder on a flat surface of incompressible fluid is considered theoretically by analysis of the potential flow about a sectorially growing circular-arc shell in infinite fluid. This is the two-dimensional analog of P. Y. Chou's treatment of sphere vertical impact. The results are compared with those obtained previously by other methods and with Watanabe's experimental data.
