Frequency Studies of the Hourly Mean Values of the Magnitude F of the Earth's Magnetic Field at Agincourt During the Period, 1946-1951

Hourly mean values of the magnitude F of the Earth's magnetic field at Agincourt have been calculated from corresponding mean values of the horizontal and vertical components H and Z. The data used are those for the period 1946 to 1951, inclusive, a period which begins soon after a sun-spot minimum and extends past a sun-spot maximum. The data for F have been used to construct frequency distributions for each hour of the day for each of the six years considered. The resulting distributions have been studied in some detail and the main results of this examination are presented in this report. Trend lines for the hourly mean values of F have also been plotted and the number of large departures of F from these trend lines are summarised and discussed
