Title Relation of Adrenal Hormones to Salt and Water Balance in Cold-Blooded Vertebrates

Injection of adrenal cortical extracts or of oil solutions of desoxy-corticesterone acetate into second-year bullfrog tadpoles has no effects on net salt balance which can be attributed to the adrenal steroids as such. Infection of saline solutions, vegetable oils, or of the extracts produces a transient loss of salt to the medium.nInfection of adrenal cortex extract into horned lizards (Phrynosome cornutum) produces a marked increase in water loss. Experiments are in progress to determine whether this can be attributed to the hormone content of the extract.
