摘要

Listeners responded concurrently to voice intelligibility and recall or problem-solving materials. Mean reception values for the listeners were evaluated with respect to the conditions of no task. The recall materials were digits, nonsense syllables, or words; the problem-solving tasks were arithmetic problems or the arrangement of scrambled letters into words. In general, with the recall of digits and nonsense syllables, mean reception values of listeners decreased with increased difficulty of the recall task; with the recall of words and the solution of arithmetic and scrambled letters problems, listener reception significantly improved when the task was moderately difficult.
