THE EVALUATION OF INSTRUCTIONAL FILMS BY A TRAINED PANEL USING A FILM ANALYSIS FORM

If the pertinent variables related to the teaching effectiveness of an instructional film can be defined and presented in a suitable film appraisal form, and if a panel can be trained to interpret these variables reliably in terms of the film's teaching effectiveness, then a valuable method for rating and improving such films will be available.nThe two immediate objectives of this research project, then, are:n1. To develop a film analysis form.n2. To train a panel to make reliable and valid judgments concerning the effectiveness of films using the above form.nThis report presents a description of the forms developed by the Instructional Film Research Program of the Pennsylbvania State University in cooperation of the forms and summarized test results obtained in their use. The procedure followed in training the panel is presented and conclusions and recommendations from the work accomplished are made.
