The Influence of Sensory Channel of Cuing on the Identification of Aurally Presented Distorted Words

The purpose of the present investigation was to extend the generalization of the earlier studies of perceptual set by introducing a new sense channel for stimulus presentation (audition instead of vision), and new stimulus material (words instead of geometrical figures and letters). Principal experimental variables were sense channel employed for presentation of the setting cues (vision and audition), and temporal position of the cuing with respect to stimulus presentation (pre-stimulus and post-stimulus).
