摘要

Radiation injury is a form of trauma characterized chiefly by a latent period after radiation exposure (3). Visible damage to parenchymal cells and supporting tissues proportional to the level of dose occurs subsequently. Inflammatory response is elicited, and if the radiation is severe, thrombosis and blood vessel degeneration may occur. Regeneration or fibrosis ultimately occurs depending, again, on the type of tissue and the radiation dose. The whole process of radiation injury and repair may be complicated by infection, to which the injured tissues are especially susceptible (3).n Because of these complex events following local radiation, it was felt that an investigation of plasma lipid changes at repeated intervals after trauma, and their correlation with local tissue injury as determined chemically and histologically, would prove of interest.
