The resonance in Rb87 has been observed without optical pumping, but with a reasonable and expected amount of Doppler reduction. Agreement with theory is satisfactory and the resonant frequency transition has been measured .to about 1:10 In particular the line width has been reduced to about 1 kc and the frequency has been determined to be 6834.6835 Hc+100 cycles.
