A novel concept is presented involving new construction techniques for achieving linear phase delay lines without the necessity of resorting to any compensating coils or capacitors. A step-by-step general design procedure is reviewed for low loss linear delay lines. A specific delay line having a nominal characteristic impedance of 550 ohms, delay of 10 microseconds low attenuation and a cut-off frequency of 4 megacycles, is used to illustrate the new design procedure and construction technique.
